I really needed that

The three day weekend was just what I needed. Although I really wanted to go to CooknKnit’s annual BBQ, I had made other plans. Next year I’ll make sure to keep that day opened.

I spent a good part of Saturday with Jen and her sister who was visiting from England. It was so nice to see her again, and as always I love spending time with Jen. We went to one of the yarn stores we get to every few months. We never fail to walk out with their largest bag full of yarny delights. This time – not so much.

We didn’t buy anything. Jen and I were in shock. Her sister, who is a quilter, not a knitter, did buy one skein of yarn for couching. It came in this very cute little bag. A bag neither of us had ever seen. Jen and I were in shock.

The biggest problem was that the yarn selection was either very drab or kind of off the wall. It seems like if you are looking for something other than basic Rowan or Sublime, forget it. They do have other yarn lines, but the colors are all kind of baby colors, or bright baby colors. I’ve looked at the same yarn the last few times we’ve been there.

Very disappointing.

So we didn’t buy any yarn. I’m still in shock.

Sunday, because of the lack of yarn purchasing, I was kind of going through withdrawal, so I texted Shannon to see if she was working and if not would she meet me at the LYS in Basking Ridge. After a bit of planning, we ended up in Princeton at the yarn shop there. Shannon bought yarn for a cardigan and I bought… nothing. Again. Nothing was calling out to me. They do have a nice selection of yarn, but nothing needed to come home with me. I have three patterns for shells I want to make and I don’t have yarn for any of them. It’s crazy.

I did have a great time with Shannon. The day was perfect to window shop, grab a bite to eat, and sit and knit. We definitely have to do that again.

Monday was hang around the house day. I didn’t get my usual chores done on Saturday, so by default they had to be done on Monday. That’s OK. It felt good to putter around the house.

All in all a stellar weekend. Except for the no yarn parts.

(Oh, and I did make a purchase. A “YOU LOST 75LBS!” present to myself but that’s for another post.)

I'm in disbelief on the no yarn. None? Not even a smidgen? I refuse to believe.

And you missed awesome cupcakes. I'm not saying that because I made them... :)

Hee hee...why whatever did you buy yourself? Which reminds me, I need to send you a link for something funny for that thing you bought.
