Knitting content
(shocking I know!)
I've been working on socks like a nut. I have one more sock to finish and it will be four pair for the month. BUT - three of them were fairly quick knits. Thicker yarn (Cascade Fixation) and on US 3 needles.
These are my April Socktiopia socks. I chose the theme "Sunshine on My Shoulders". I knit them in a 1x1 twisted rib, with a slip stitch heel on US 0 needles. Just a basic sock. I used Ellen's Half Pint Farm yarn Wool 80%, Nylon 20%. They're nice and stretchy but they laddered something awful.
I love the way the heel flap and turn turned out.
I also made some pedicure socks from Knitty. I used the Cascade Fixation on size US 3 needles. I thought they would come in handy since it was so cold out and I wanted to get my tooties in shape for summer sandal season. The day I went for my pedicure it was 80 degrees, so I didn't need them. I'm sure I will next time.
The last two pair are also made with fixation on US 3 needles. Both pair are for my Mom for Mother's day. The pink are a basic sock with a picot edge cuff. The blue pair are an exclusive Socktopia pattern called Fanny. I still have 3/4 of that sock to knit, but I have time yet before Mother's Day.
I also started the shrug Shannon and I bought the yarn for at Michael's. I got almost all the way through the increases and realized I was increasing wrong, so I had to rip out and start over. Not much to see there so I'll post when it looks more than just a mass of stockinette with a little ribbing.
Plans were finalized this week to go to MD Sheep and Wool next Saturday. I'm really excited about it, not that I need any more yarn, but just to hang with Shannon and other knitters. I may even have a close encounter with the Fug. I can't wait!

Lunch Date
Have you listened to the podcast I told you about? SSK? Did you listen to the latest episode?
That’s right. I was Shannon’s “Mystery Date”. Heh
Shannon and I first started gabbing when Knitty D and the City had their bulletin boards. Then we became constant visitors on each other’s blogs, and got to know each other over the past couple months.
Then we headed for the yarn. We were so busy talking and laughing at the ugly yarn that was on sale for like $2, and deciding which colors of Cotton Ease to get that the only other picture I got was of Shannon with the yarn haul. It’s not all hers.
We both decided we needed to knit the same shrug. Shannon found the yarn and each color was better than the next. The shrug is the pattern on the ball band and so we’re having a knit-a-long.
All in all we had a great time. It was way too short.

The hammering you hear is Ark building
OK, not really, but for a moment there on Monday I thought we'd be floating down the Raritan River. I was trying to get my projects lined up two by two. heh...
The water has receded around my work and home areas, but the traffic has not. It's got to be horrible trying to get to your home when 1/2 the streets in your town are flooded. At least they're talking about a warm weekend with temps in the mid 60s. An actual SPRING weekend. Yippee!
I never did show you my March Socktopia socks. I knit the Roza socks from the Spring IK and used Opal sock yarn and size US 0 needles. I think they came out great!

Days of Old
Remember when I was so excited about having lots of places to hide here in the office so I could knit at lunch time?
Those days are over.
We have 3 conference rooms and they are constantly in use. All the offices are filled. Even the little one in the way back that was empty.
I suppose it’s a good thing that the company is growing and we’re getting more business. But it’s infringing on my knitting knooks. The temperatures aren’t even warm enough to sit outside in the “park” between buildings to knit and get some air and sunshine. There is even a lovely fountain which isn’t yet operational. I think they’re de-winterizing it now and it will be running again as soon as the temps are more consistantly over freezing.
Anyway – I’m cranky. I need my knitting time. I don’t want anyone to bug me and they are all crawling up my butt!

Only in my Neighborhood...
Not the bank robbery; or the FBI Agent who was killed (horrible on the former and horrifficly sad on the latter).
-But-
The fact that the suspect who got away walked the mile or so down a highway with an assult rifle and only wearing one shoe, decided he was hungry and went into Quick Check to order a sandwich. Apparently bank robbery is hungry work! Did no one in the store notice the missing shoe or maybe THE GUN?!?!
Poor Katie. She hates loud noises and the police cars and copters probably have her hiding under the bed.
ETA: They've started leaving the part about Quick Check off the news reports. But they did have it in there! I swear!

Oh Well - and other crap - and a new Pod Cast
RU lost. But it was still cool that they were in the finals.
My car is broken. I won't have it back till maybe Friday. There is much ordering of parts and welding and at least 5 hours of labor in store for it. None of these new parts will be seen because they are all inside the door. It's kind of like taking ten $100 bills and slipping them down into the door where the window goes down. Then there is the begging for rides part of this whole thing which sux. Rental car places are not that friendly to people with only a debit card no matter what the "Visa Debit" people say.
Because of all the car hoopla I completely and totally forgot a doctor appointment I had on Monday night. Didn't even realize it till I called her yesterday to tell her she was getting test results from my PCP. I ended that call with "I'll see you later this week". I looked up my appointmnent and discovered it was for Monday evening. I felt HORRIBLE! I never do that. Totally forget an appointment. Just completely blew it off. I called her back and said that I was so sorry for missing the appointment, that I didn't realize it was Monday and could I please re-sechedule? I know these things happen, but to not remember at all was very upsetting to me.
One last thing. I promise it's a good thing. An on line friend has just started a pod cast. They are still working out the audio kinks, but even so, it's great fun to listen to. You can find the pod cast here, or here. Keep up the good work Shannon and Stephanie!

Deja Vu all over again...
GO RU!!
Rutgers is in the NCAA Woman's Basketball Final!
For the longest time the Woman's BB team was the only winning team Rutgers had. It would be so cool if they won it all!
